Awakened by the Shriek of the Setting Sun

November/December 2020
Awakened by the Shriek of the Setting Sun (...) is a thoughtful, original, and multithreaded visual narrative, largely oscillating around the abstraction and symbolism of abstract forms. Combining coincidence with deep self-reflection, the author is dragging printmaking towards performative and conceptual activities with unparalleled grace. The implementation – full of vibrant colors and dynamic compositions – exudes, beyond creative and conceptual exploration, the pleasure of creation; balances the seriousness of the socio-political context with the lightness of childlike exploration. Together with the theoretical work, the project presents great self-awareness, sensitivity, and vigilance, in which the artist perceives artistic activities in the context of the general contemporary visual culture and socio-political discourses. On top of that, the project demonstrates an excellent sense of structuring the image. Even where coincidence takes the lead and creation succumbs to the dictates of losing control, the prints are brilliantly composed, rhythmic, and balanced - flawless in their wandering.
