A decrease in the population of honey bees has been observed in Europe and North America since 2003. After three years, the phenomenon was named Colony Collapse Disorder. The situation worsens; beekeepers lose up to 90% of hives. Multiple researchers tried to find the cause of the disaster. Finally, CCD turns out to be the result of many environmental factors (climate change, electromagnetic radiation, genetically modified crops, pesticides, antibiotics, air pollution, malnutrition, parasites, and bacterial and viral infections). My beekeeping series brings a closer correlation between technical difficulties in managing an apiary and an emotional approach to breeding bees. The contrast between the disturbing and incomprehensible nature of the objects used for handling insects and the sensitive gestures of a specialist illustrates the universality and multifaceted importance of bees to humanity. They represent great economic and ecological value up to the very foundation of the Anthropocene.
